Stooping to Conquer!

“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” – Mark 10:43–45

The world tells us to climb higher, fight harder, and never back down. But Jesus showed us a different way—the way of stooping to conquer.

He didn’t come with an army; He came with a towel. He didn’t ascend a throne first—He first embraced a cross.

First, Jesus conquered through humility:
“Being in very nature God… He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross.” – Philippians 2:6–8
Christ stooped low, washing feet and bearing a cross. But through that humility, He conquered sin, death, and the grave. Hallelujah!

Now, we are called to follow His example:
“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus…” – Philippians 2:5
To lead, we must serve. To rise, we must bow. In God’s kingdom, the way up always starts by going down—in humility and obedience.

True power is also found in surrender:
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” – James 4:6
The greatest victories in the kingdom of God are not won by force, but by faith. Not by pride, but by surrender.

And God lifts up the lowly:
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” – James 4:10
When we stoop in humility, God exalts us in His time. The path to true greatness is lined with love, sacrifice, and trust in Him.

Finally, the cross was the ultimate “stooping to conquer”:
“He disarmed the powers and authorities, making a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” – Colossians 2:15
Jesus didn’t lose at the cross—He won.
And now, He invites us to follow Him in that same spirit of humble victory.

Are you willing to stoop to conquer?

The best way to stoop is total surrender to God. Will you surrender to Him now as you say this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I submit myself to You today and confess that I am a sinner in need of Your grace. Thank You for dying for my sins. I trust in You as my Savior and Lord. Help me to continue living for You and following in Your footsteps—in stooping and conquering. Amen.
