Earthen Vessels

Life is a precious gift, yet fragile — like clay in the hands of the Potter. The song “Earthen Vessels” beautifully captures this truth: though we are made of dust, we carry something divine within us. The Bible reminds us that our human bodies are temporary, but the treasure God places inside them — His Spirit and eternal life — is everlasting.

Scripture says:
“All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.”
— 1 Peter 1:24–25 (NIV)

No matter how long we live, one day our bodies return to the earth — for “dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19)

Yet for those who belong to Jesus Christ, there is a greater hope within these fragile vessels — a divine trio of body, soul, and spirit. Though our bodies decay, our spirits live forever. This is the beauty and confidence of every child of God: that life does not end at the grave.

Our time on earth may be brief, but life in Christ is eternal. That is why the Bible urges us:

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”
— Matthew 6:19–20 (NIV)

The highest purpose in life is to live for what is eternal — to fill our earthen vessels with the treasure of God’s presence.

Friend, I invite you today to receive Jesus Christ into your life. He alone gives eternal life.

You can say this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me. I believe You died for me and rose again. Please forgive my sins, write my name in the Book of Life, and fill this earthen vessel with Your Spirit. Amen.”

If you have prayed this prayer, heaven rejoices with you. Welcome to God’s family. Send us a message right now .
