Backslidden? God Wants You Back

Have you ever walked with God, truly known Him, only to drift away later?
Maybe life became comfortable and you felt you no longer needed God. Or perhaps challenges came, prayers seemed unanswered, and you began to wonder if God was still able, or even willing to help.

If this describes you, the story of the prodigal son speaks directly to your heart (Luke 15:11–32).
The prodigal son left his father’s house, took his inheritance, and went to a far country. For a season, life seemed promising. But eventually, everything fell apart. When he hit rock bottom, Scripture says, “He came to himself” (Luke 15:17), and he realized that life in his father’s house was far better than life outside of it.
He made a decision to return home.
And here is the beautiful truth: the father was waiting. “But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him” (Luke 15:20).
The father did not reject him. He did not shame him. Instead, he restored him.

My friend, that is exactly how God feels about you.
God’s Word says, “Return unto me, and I will return unto you” (Malachi 3:7). No matter how far you have wandered, God’s arms remain open. “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in mercy” (Psalm 103:8).
I don’t know what stage of life you are in or what experiences pushed you away from God, but this truth stands firm: being with God is better than walking alone. “In thy presence is fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11).
If you sincerely decide today to return to Him, He will receive you.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
Most importantly, returning to God secures your eternal hope.
“In my Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2).

A Prayer of Restoration

If this message speaks to you, pray sincerely:
Father, I thank You for the opportunity to hear Your word again.
Have mercy on me and forgive me of all my past iniquities (Psalm 51:1).
Accept me again as Your child (John 1:12), and send Your Holy Spirit to guide me (John 16:13).
Thank You, Father.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

God bless you.
