“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8.
While God is all-sufficient and sovereign, He has chosen to partner with humanity to fulfill His divine agenda on earth, and sometimes He almost becomes needy in this area.
God needs men! Yes, even you! He needs vessels to fill, hearts to ignite and ‘donkeys’ to ride upon in fulfilling His agenda in every nook and cranny of the society. One should expect that if the Almighty has any need, all His creation will gladly yield themselves to meet the need of the One who owns, sustains and determines their possibilities, but ironically, men have repeatedly refused and rejected God’s assignment. Before Moses eventually obeyed, he gave different excuses why he wouldn’t be able to do God’s business, and after God had sufficiently answered all his fears, he retorted, “Oh, Lord, please send someone else.” Exodus 4:13. Similarly, God lamented in Ezekiel 22:30-31:
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath…
It’s your turn today, to either say “Yes, Lord” and avail yourself for His assignment, or to continue to pay lip service, saying you’re available while your actions say “send another person.” God’s needs abound around you today: a less-privileged person in the neighborhood, victims of injustice, diseases, false doctrines/beliefs or disasters around, a service role in your local church or community…
Will you avail yourself to meet God’s needs today? It all begins with yielding yourself first to Him in total surrender. When He’s your Lord and Savior, then He can be your Sender. May we all be found, today and always, saying: HERE I AM LORD; SEND ME.
