The Smoking Flax

Have you once surrendered your life to Jesus, but now your faith feels weak, your hope is fading, and your spiritual strength seems almost gone?

You still believe, but only faintly. You still pray, but with difficulty. You still try to hold on to God, but you feel tired, dry, or unworthy.

God’s Word says,

“A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench…”
— Isaiah 42:3; Matthew 12:20

A smoking flax is a wick that is still burning, but it gives off more smoke than light and appears to be on the verge of going out completely.

The comforting truth of Scripture is this: Jesus does not quench the smoking flax. He says,

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28

He does not reject those who come to Him with fragile faith or broken hearts. Instead, He draws near with compassion and restores what seems almost lost.

He is waiting for you to come. Do not turn away. He cares deeply for you and is able to strengthen you.

Where others may see failure, Christ sees the possibility of renewal. Where others may give up, He continues His gentle work of restoration.

So, if your faith feels weak, do not turn away from Him, turn to Him. Bring Him your doubts, your dryness, and your weariness. He will strengthen you.

A smoking flax is not the end. If you surrender yourself to Him, He will restore and help you.
