Give Me Water

There are moments in life when you simply need water.

Imagine a man who has been running for miles. He is exhausted. His body is crying out for hydration. At that moment, water is not a luxury, it is a necessity. He needs something that will restore him, refresh him, and give him the strength to keep moving.

In John 4, Jesus came to a well in Samaria and met a woman who had come to draw water. Jesus asked her for a drink. But as their conversation continued, Jesus revealed something far greater than the water in that well.

He told her:

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.” — John 4:13–14

The woman came to the well looking for ordinary water. Jesus offered her living water.

There is a difference between the water we drink to sustain our bodies and the water Jesus gives to sustain our souls.

Life can leave us thirsty. We become weary from running, disappointed by circumstances, burdened by responsibilities, wounded by people, and uncertain about tomorrow. Sometimes, we keep moving even when everything within us is saying, “I need something to refresh me.”

And Jesus says, “Come to Me.”

He is the Water of Life.

When you drink from the living water that Christ gives, the storms of life may still come. The journey may still be difficult. You may still have moments when you feel tired. But you do not have to journey spiritually dehydrated.

His presence refreshes you.
His Word strengthens you.
His grace sustains you.
His Spirit gives you what you need to keep moving.

So today, perhaps your prayer does not need to be complicated.

“Jesus, give me water.”

Selah.
